Appearance

White flake with faint fatty alcohol odor

Description

Most common are the combining of fatty alcohols from vegetable sources such as (palm and coconut) and synthetic production as an end product of the petroleum industry. It is used in the cosmetic industry as a surfactant in shampoos and conditioners, as an emollient, a foam stabilizer, an aide to slow water evaporation and as an emulsifying and thickening agent in the manufacture of skin creams and lotions. Cetyl alcohol is used to give body and stability, enhance texture and improved the feel to creams and lotions. It may also be used as a lubricant for nuts and bolts.

Function

On account of its consistency giving characteristics the product is mainly used for viscosity regulation in cosmetic O/W emulsions. Used as an opacifier in shampoos, and a thickening agent in skin creams and lotions.
