Function

Medicinally, its major use is as a solvent in the preparation of sustained-release intramuscular / subcutaneous injections of oil soluble actives such as steroids and avermectins. It is also used as an excipient in suspensions and emulsions, ointments, liniments, ophthalmic preparations, oral capsules and suppositories.
